State Theatre of Alabama's Young-Actor Conservatory
The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is among the ten largest Shakespeare festivals in the world and operates a full Acting Academy alongside its mainstage. Classes meet on the Festival's purpose-built campus in east Montgomery and serve students from kindergarten through grade 12.
Programs for Kids
Academy programs run on multi-week tracks tailored to grade level, plus single-day spring events. Programs include:
- Young Performers Day of Play (Grades K-2, ages 5-8)
- Creative Drama (Grades 3-5) - 8-week storytelling and drama-games session
- Musical Theatre Lab (Grades 6-8) - 8-week acting, singing, dancing with showcase
- Actor's Lab (Grades 9-12) - 5-week teen program in voice, movement, improvisation
- Summer Camps emphasizing the FIVE Cs (creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, confidence)
