About
Alliance Francaise de Washington on Wyoming Avenue
The Alliance Francaise de Washington DC is the local chapter of the worldwide French cultural network, located on Wyoming Avenue NW in the Kalorama neighborhood. Its youth program introduces children to the French-speaking world through songs, stories, games, arts and crafts, and progresses into structured language study for older students.

- Pitchouns for ages 3 to 5, building new words and structures through play
- French as a foreign language tracks for ages 6 to 18
- French for native speakers covering reading, grammar, and literature
What's Included
- Immersive, activity-based classes for the youngest learners
- Separate tracks for non-francophones and native French speakers
- Summer conversation courses for teens ages 12 to 18
- Part of the international Alliance Francaise cultural network
Experience
The Alliance Francaise suits families who want French taught within a broader cultural context, whether starting a toddler with songs and play or supporting a francophone child's reading and grammar. Distinct beginner and native-speaker pathways let the program serve both newcomers and bilingual families across the Kalorama area.
