American Martial Arts Institute - Newark

American Martial Arts Institute is the kung fu academy of southern New Castle County, located at 10 Peddler's Row in Newark Delaware (just south of Wilmington and easily reachable from Bear, Christiana, New Castle, Hockessin, and the Wilmington metro). The Kids Kung Fu and Lil' Dragons programs give children a structured, energetic learning environment that builds focus, confidence, social skills, and physical conditioning through traditional Chinese martial arts training. The curriculum is rotated on a thoughtful three-month cycle covering multiple kung fu styles - giving students broader exposure to the Chinese martial arts than a single-style school typically offers - so over the course of a year a young student sees different stance work, hand techniques, footwork patterns, and weapons material from across the kung fu tradition. New students spend their first six months in a BASIC Program building clean fundamentals - posture, stance work, basic strikes and kicks, conditioning, and the dojo etiquette of bowing, listening, and respect - before advancing into the Black Belt Course where the syllabus opens up into more advanced forms, partner work, and weapons training. Classes are scaled by age and ability so younger students train with peers their own size and developmental stage. Newark's New Castle County location makes the academy convenient for the broader Wilmington metro area along the I-95 corridor. Trial classes are available for new students.
