About
Summer Performing Arts Camps at Huntington Beach High School
APA Kids and APA Jr! are community-open summer arts education camps run by Huntington Beach Adult School at the historic theatre and arts buildings on Huntington Beach High School's campus. Programs combine art, music, dance, and acting in themed weeks that culminate in a student showcase performance and mini art exhibition.
Programs for Kids
Two themed sessions in summer, each four-hour weekday mornings for two weeks, designed by age group. Programs include:
- APA Gets Wicked (themed week)
- APA Goes to the Tropics (themed week)
- Acting and theatrical performance instruction
- Dance, art, and music blocks
- Final showcase performance for parents
- Mini art exhibition
What's Included
- Use of renovated APA theater and arts buildings
- Faculty drawn from APA program staff
- Showcase performance on final day
- Multi-discipline arts exposure in a single camp week
Experience
Fits families wanting a multi-discipline summer arts camp where kids try acting alongside dance, music, and visual art. The HBHS APA campus has actual theatre facilities, so the showcase is on a real stage rather than improvised space.
