Brandywine Creek State Park preserves 933 acres along the Brandywine River north of Wilmington - mature hardwood forest, restored grasslands, freshwater wetlands, and 14 miles of hiking trails. The Nature Center anchors the family experience.
What Kids Can Do
The Nature Center has hands-on natural history exhibits, live native amphibians and reptiles, plus naturalist-led programs. 14 miles of trails wind through hardwood forest - Tulip Tree Woods Nature Preserve area features 200+ year-old tulip poplars. Disc golf course on north side. Freshwater fishing from creek banks. Cross-country skiing in winter. Junior Ranger booklets at Nature Center. Picnic areas with grills [marked: trails not stroller-friendly past Nature Center - dirt and roots throughout].
What's Included
Day-use $4 in-state vehicle, $8 out-of-state. Trails, Nature Center, and disc golf included. Camping and special programs priced separately.
Experience
Plan 2-4 hours. Mix outdoor trails and indoor Nature Center. Bring water, sun protection, sturdy shoes. About 5 miles north of downtown Wilmington in Greenville. Free on-site parking with day-use fee.
