Brookline Tennis Academy
About
Brookline Tennis Academy at Roxbury Latin
Brookline Tennis Academy operates out of the Roxbury Latin School campus in West Roxbury, with 12 outdoor courts in a wooded setting. The academy is independent of the school - it uses the courts as its home venue while running its own coaching and curriculum. Director Shelly Mars brings years of USTA junior event experience.
Junior Tennis Programs
Programs run through the school year and summer:
- Junior Clinics covering stroke fundamentals, etiquette, and on-court general knowledge
- Group classes by ability for spring, summer, and fall
- Summer Camp
- Private and semi-private lessons
- Counselor in Training (CIT) program for teens ages 14-16
What's Included
- Court time on 12 outdoor hard courts
- Coaching from Brookline Tennis Academy staff
- Age-appropriate balls and racquets for younger levels
- Wooded campus setting with parking
Experience
The academy emphasizes the off-court parts of tennis - etiquette, scorekeeping, match flow - alongside stroke development. Group sizes stay small, and many families return season after season. The CIT track gives older kids a path to leadership and counselor roles at the summer camp.
