Chastain Arts Center
About
City-run art studio inside Chastain Park
Chastain Arts Center is operated by Atlanta's Office of Cultural Affairs right in the middle of Chastain Park - the big Buckhead greenspace most Atlantans know for its amphitheater. The building is a real working studio: kilns, printmaking presses, and a glass fusion setup you don't usually find at a city facility.
Youth art classes and summer camp
Year-round classes plus a well-known annual Summer Camp draw from across Atlanta. Classes include:
- Drawing and painting fundamentals
- Ceramics and pottery wheel
- Printmaking
- Jewelry making and metals
- Glass fusion
- Summer Art Camp for kids
What's Included
- All core materials provided (clay, paints, paper, firing fees)
- Working Atlanta artists as instructors
- Studio access with proper equipment (wheels, kilns, presses)
- Finished pieces go home, with annual student exhibitions
Experience
Because it's city-funded, tuition runs below private-studio prices, which is partly why it books up fast. A good fit for families who want real materials and real technique rather than craft-night vibes.
