Cherry Creek State Park spans 3,900 acres in southeast Aurora, anchored by the 880-acre Cherry Creek Reservoir. The park includes a sandy swim beach (Memorial Day to Labor Day), 35 miles of multi-use trails, 135 campsites, and a dedicated dog off-leash area.
Junior Ranger & Family Programs
Colorado Parks & Wildlife runs Junior Ranger programming plus seasonal events. Programs include:
- Junior Ranger program (loaner backpack with exploration tools)
- Sandy swim beach (no lifeguards)
- Nature/interpretive trails
- Wildlife viewing
- Archery, birding, biking
- Canoeing, kayaking, fishing
- Horse riding via 12 Mile Stables
