About
Artist-Built Indoor/Outdoor Playground Museum
City Museum on N 16th Street is St. Louis's most famous interactive attraction - an artist-built indoor/outdoor/underground playground housed in a former shoe warehouse. Part museum, part art installation, part playground.
Open Play and Programs
The space mixes physical play with art installations across multiple levels. Programs include:
- Slide network (10-story slide, vintage school bus slides)
- Caves and tunnels
- Climbing structures and giant praying mantis
- Crawl spaces and rope tunnels
- Rooftop area with Ferris wheel and school bus
- Underground caves
- Birthday parties and group events
- Art workshops
What's Included
- Per-person admission (kids and adults)
- All-floor access including underground and rooftop
- Knee pads recommended (bring your own)
- Group discounts for school field trips
Experience
Different from any other indoor playground - more art-and-architecture experience than soft-play. Kids get bruised here, but they leave talking about it for weeks. Best for adventurous kids 5+, with younger ones sticking to the lower-level play areas. Wear long sleeves and pants.
