Denver Urban Youth Tennis Academy
About
Denver Urban Youth Tennis Academy at City Park
Denver Urban Youth Tennis Academy is a nonprofit cooperative effort of Denver Parks & Recreation, City Park Racquet Club, and local tennis associations. The academy serves underserved kids from Denver's inner city, providing high-performance training, equipment, and tournament-fee support. Practices run on City Park's outdoor hard courts.
Junior Tennis Programs
Programs serve kids ages 7 through 18:
- High-performance training for competitive tennis
- Annual September tryouts at City Park - up to 56 players selected
- Instruction running mid-October through July
- Clothing, equipment support, and tournament entry-fee assistance
- USTA-sanctioned event participation
What's Included
- Court time on City Park's outdoor hard courts (14 courts)
- Coaching from professional staff
- Tennis equipment provided for accepted players
- Tournament entry fees subsidized
- Year-round training calendar
Experience
Tryout-based access keeps groups small (56 spots) so coaches give individual attention. The mission targets inner-city kids who otherwise lack access to high-performance tennis training. Selected players compete in USTA-sanctioned events with tournament logistics handled by the academy.
