Free Inclusive Kids Cooking at Newark Beth Israel
Hannah's Kitchen is the children's culinary program at the Rev. Dr. Ronald B. Christian Community Health & Wellness Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Funded by the Hannah Peretsman Breene Foundation, classes are free, inclusive, and welcome kids of all abilities in an adaptive teaching kitchen.
Kids Programs
Multi-format kid cooking series for ages 2-12. Programs include:
- My First Cooking Class (introductory hands-on sessions)
- Healthy Kids in Hannah's Kitchen (nutrition focus)
- Taste Testers (tasting and recipe exploration)
- Adaptive sessions for kids with diverse abilities
What's Included
- All ingredients and kitchen tools
- Instruction from registered dietitian nutritionists
- Free participation (no fees)
- Adaptive equipment for kids with disabilities
Experience
Dietitians teach kids how to read recipes, kitchen safety, measuring, and basic knife skills while cooking nutritious meals. The inclusive setup means kids of all abilities work in the same kitchen with accommodations as needed. Registration is required - call or email to reserve a spot.
