Hermitage Museum Visual Arts School
About
The Hermitage Museum's Visual Arts School runs the broadest age range in Norfolk, from toddler ARTful Play through teen camps, set on twelve acres of waterfront gardens.
Programs
- ARTful Play (14 months-3 years) - parent-and-child sensory art sessions
- Children's Art Classes (6-12) - school-year studio cohorts
- Summer Art Camps (6-18) - tiered by age band: 6-10, 9-12, 11-15, and 14-18
- School Field Trip Programs - guided museum and studio days
- Wetlands Enrichment Tour (WET) - art paired with on-site nature walks
What's Included
Class materials, museum access, guest-artist demonstrations, and lunch for full-day camps are all included. Instructors include practicing artists and museum educators.
Experience
The school operates inside a historic museum and gardens on the Lafayette River, so kids alternate between a digital arts classroom, modern light-filled studios, and outdoor work in the gardens. The museum keeps free admission Tuesday-Sunday, which makes drop-off naturally pair with family museum visits.
