Historic Bethabara Park
About
183-Acre Park Around 1753 Moravian Settlement
Historic Bethabara Park preserves 183 acres around the 1753 site of the first Moravian settlement in North Carolina - colonial buildings, archeological reconstructions, walking trails, protected wetlands, and birding habitats.
What Kids Can Do
Costumed interpreters demonstrate 1750s Moravian colonial life - blacksmithing, candle-making, weaving, and hearth cooking. Three miles of walking and birding trails wind through hardwood forest. Reconstructed buildings include the Single Brothers' House, Gemeinhaus chapel, and Potter's Shop. Protected wetlands give close views of frogs, turtles, and migrating ducks. Festival Bethabara held annually in fall [marked: building tours April-mid-December - grounds free year-round dawn-dusk].
