L'Alliance New York
About
L'Alliance New York off Central Park
L'Alliance New York - long known as the French Institute Alliance Francaise, or FIAF, and rebranded in 2024 - is Manhattan's flagship French cultural center, on East 60th Street just off Central Park. Part of the worldwide Alliance Francaise network, it pairs serious language instruction with a full cultural program of film, music, talks, and a French-language library, so children learn the language inside a living French community.
Language Programs
French classes run year-round for toddlers, kids, and teens at every level, taught by experienced native French-speaking teachers:
- The a petits pas track for toddlers ages 1-4 (French through games, songs, dance, arts and crafts)
- Structured immersion classes for older children and teens
- Hands-on workshops in cooking, art, and music conducted in French
- Summer day programs in camp format during school breaks

Experience
Because instruction is communicative and immersion-based, students use French to do real things - cook, create, perform - rather than memorize conjugation tables. For New York families wanting a credentialed, culturally rich French program backed by an international institution, L'Alliance is the city's anchor option.
