LACMA Art Classes
About
The Met of the West Coast Teaches Kids to Make Art
LACMA is the largest art museum in the western United States, and its education department runs dedicated kids and teen art classes on-campus - a rare opportunity to learn to make art literally inside one of the world's great collections.

Age-banded from elementary through high school. Options include:
- Kids classes - ages 6-8 and 9-12, in-person, skill-building with professional teaching artists
- Youth/Teen classes - ages 13-15, experiment with artistic styles
- 16+ students enroll in adult classes
- Art Camps on school breaks - watercolor, mixed media, material exploration
What's Included
- All art supplies
- Parking validation for class sessions
- Scholarships available for ages 6 and up
- Instruction from working professional LA artists
Experience
Few programs in the country let a 9-year-old spend their Saturday making watercolors in galleries where Picassos and Rauschenbergs hang upstairs. During LACMA's ongoing construction some classes meet in gallery spaces or outdoors, and acrylic painting and printmaking are temporarily unavailable - worth confirming current offerings when you register.
