Mackenzie Park is a 249-acre Lubbock city park along Yellow House Canyon - home to the famous Prairie Dog Town, a 7-acre habitat with hundreds of wild prairie dogs. Plus disc golf, picnic shelters, hiking trails, and historic CCC-built features.
What Kids Can Do
Prairie Dog Town is the marquee attraction - kids watch hundreds of black-tailed prairie dogs digging, calling, and grooming above their burrow town. Free observation areas with informational signs. 18-hole disc golf course is one of Texas's most popular. Hiking trails wind through Yellow House Canyon. Joyland Amusement Park (private operator) on park grounds. Picnic shelters with grills.
