Washington Capitals' Official Practice Facility
MedStar Capitals Iceplex (formerly Kettler Capitals Iceplex) is the official practice and training facility of the NHL's Washington Capitals, sitting on the top floor of the Ballston Quarter complex on N Glebe Road in Arlington. Two NHL-sized ice sheets, Capitals office space, locker rooms, a full pro shop and team store, and snack bar are all under one roof.
Programs For Kids
Programming covers the full spectrum from learn-to-skate through travel hockey. Programs include:
- Learn to Skate group classes
- Future Caps Learn to Play (ages 5-9, free equipment kit kids keep)
- Youth hockey leagues
- Capitals-affiliated travel hockey programs
- Figure skating private and group instruction
- Hockey camps and clinics in summer
- Stick and puck sessions
- Public skating

Experience
MedStar Iceplex is the most iconic ice address in metro DC - kids practice on the same sheets as Ovechkin and the rest of the Capitals. Arlington Ballston location is Metro-accessible via the Ballston-MU Orange/Silver station, pulling families from across Arlington, Falls Church, McLean, and Alexandria.
