Mendon Ponds Park is the largest Monroe County park - 2,500 acres of woodlands, ponds, wetlands, and glacially-created landforms 12 miles south of Rochester. National Natural Landmark for glacial features (eskers, kames, kettle ponds).
What Kids Can Do
The famous Birdsong Trail lets kids hand-feed chickadees that land on outstretched palms. Trails wind through hardwood forest past Hundred Acre Pond and Quaker Pond - kids spot turtles, herons, beavers. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Horseback riding allowed on equestrian trails. Picnic shelters bookable for parties.
