Milwaukee Recreation — Youth Volleyball
About
Milwaukee Recreation — City-Wide Rec Volleyball for Kids at MPS Schools
Milwaukee Recreation is the community-programs arm of Milwaukee Public Schools and runs affordable youth volleyball leagues using school gyms across the city. Where private clubs charge $500+ per season, the district-run program keeps fees low so any kid at any school can play.
Elementary & Middle School Leagues
Coed volleyball leagues built around the MPS elementary and middle-school calendar. Classes include:
- Elementary coed volleyball league (grades 3–5)
- Middle school leagues (grades 6–8)
- Youth clinics throughout the school year
- Summer rec-center drop-in volleyball
- City-wide tournaments to close each season
What's Included
- Gym time at a neighborhood MPS school
- Uniforms/jerseys provided by the league
- Coaches recruited from MPS staff and community volunteers
- Official USAV-style rules adapted for elementary and middle-school age
- Sliding-fee scale so cost is never the reason a kid doesn't play
Experience
Kids learn the game with their school friends in their school's gym, which lowers the barrier for first-time players while still teaching real rules and rotation. Best fit for families who want an accessible entry point before committing to a competitive club, and for community-minded parents who want to keep their kids in MPS-affiliated activities.
