Multnomah Arts Center
About
Multnomah Village's Historic-Schoolhouse Arts Center for Kids
Multnomah Arts Center is a Portland Parks & Recreation facility housed in a historic Multnomah Village schoolhouse on Capitol Highway. It's rare in being a true multidisciplinary arts center - visual arts, performing arts, and music all under one roof.
Youth Visual Arts
Described as "process-oriented art experience" rather than output-driven. Mediums include:
- Drawing and painting (watercolor, oil, acrylic)
- Ceramics
- Metals and jewelry
- Textiles - basketry, felting, knitting, weaving
- Woodworking, photography, printmaking
Beyond Visual Arts
- Youth dance
- Youth theatre arts
- Music lessons and ensemble classes
- Family and intergenerational offerings
Experience
A rare one-stop arts center for Portland families - your kid can do ceramics one term and woodworking the next in the same building, with the same registration system. Public-facility pricing is notably lower than private studios. Specific age bands and session formats are easier to navigate via the registration portal or a phone call than the public program page.
