The North Buffalo Ice Rink is a city-operated indoor ice arena on Tacoma Avenue in North Buffalo. The rink runs structured Mini Blades learn-to-skate classes alongside hockey progression curriculum and public skating at resident-friendly pricing.
Programs for Kids
The Mini Blades program is built around three progressive levels for children 6 and under. Programs include:
- Mini Blades Levels 1-3 (Agility, Balance, Coordination, Speed for ages 6 and under)
- Learn to Skate group classes
- Three-level Hockey Skating curriculum (fundamentals through agility)
- Sabres Learn to Play partnership sessions
- Public skating sessions

- 8-week sessions ($100 Buffalo residents, $125 non-residents, with skate rentals included)

Experience
Mini Blades classes focus on the basics of movement on ice - agility, balance, coordination, and speed - before any sticks or pucks appear. Hockey-track skaters progress through three curriculum levels covering fundamentals, edges, and game-speed agility.
