Riverside State Park - Bowl and Pitcher Area
About
10,000-Acre State Park Through Spokane River Canyon
Riverside State Park stretches 10,000 acres along 12 miles of the Spokane River - one of Washington's largest state parks. The Bowl and Pitcher area is the family-favorite section with iconic basalt formations, swinging suspension bridge, and family-friendly trails.
What Kids Can Do
The swinging suspension bridge across the Spokane River is the marquee kid-experience - 196 feet across, bouncy walk above whitewater rapids. Bowl and Pitcher basalt formations (named for their resemblance to a punch bowl and pitcher) sit in the river. 55+ miles of trails wind through the park - the family-friendly River Trail loops 1.5 miles from the suspension bridge. Picnic shelters, campground, and Equestrian Area on-site [marked: suspension bridge can sway in wind - hold kids' hands during crossings].
