Birmingham's Urban Wildlife Preserve
Ruffner Mountain spans more than 1,000 acres of Appalachian foothills inside Birmingham city limits, run by Jefferson County Greenways Foundation. The nature center, trails, and overlook give Birmingham kids urban access to forest hikes, wildlife exhibits, and rock outcrops.
