Stained Glass Theatre
About
35-Year Faith-Based Community Theatre in Ozark
Stained Glass Theatre was founded in 1982 by playwright-director Ron Boutwell with a mission of communicating faith through live performances. Originally Springfield-based, the theatre relocated to its current Ozark home in 2003 and has been producing family-friendly faith-themed shows for over thirty-five years.
Productions and Cast Opportunities
Programming focuses on full-season production runs rather than weekly classes. Programming includes:
- Multi-show season of family-friendly faith-based productions
- Open auditions for cast members of all ages
- Special holiday season offerings such as I'll Be Home for Christmas
- Backstage volunteer opportunities for older youth
What's Included
- Stage time in mounted productions for cast members
- Mid-week and weekend show schedules
- Volunteer-driven model that keeps participation costs accessible
- Three-and-a-half-decade institutional continuity in the Ozarks
Experience
Best fit for families looking for a faith-aligned theatre community rather than secular conservatory training. The all-ages casting model means kids who audition land in shows with adult mentors, which is rare for community-theatre experience structured this way.
