Starlings Nashville
About
Nonprofit Girls' Club for At-Risk Youth
Starlings Nashville is a nonprofit volleyball club that exists to widen access to the sport for at-risk girls ages 5–18, holding tryouts at Gilead Baptist Church on Lebanon Pike.
Girls' Club Programs (Ages 5–18)
Programs are designed to keep cost out of the way of participation. Classes include:
- Girls volleyball teams across the 5–18 age range
- Tryout-based team placement
- Practice and game schedule through the season
- Skills work and team play
- Community-service framing — volleyball as life-skill development
What's Included
- Indoor courts at Gilead Baptist Church (4004 Lebanon Pike) for tryouts and practice
- Subsidized fees for families that can't afford private clubs
- Coaching from director LaKeshia Tinsley and volunteer staff
- National Starlings network (USA-wide nonprofit umbrella)
- Connection to BGCYMCA partnership
Experience
Right fit for Nashville families looking for a values-driven, equity-focused program rather than a competitive travel club. The Starlings model nationwide is built around access — it's specifically designed to be the kid's first organized sport experience.
