The Jiu-Jitsu Institute sits on Carolina Beach Road in south Wilmington, opened May 2018 by founder and owner Gil Alcocer. Alcocer started martial arts at age 7, served in the Air Force, and began Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 23, training directly under the renowned Mendes brothers (Rafael and Gui Mendes - among the most accomplished BJJ competitors of the modern era). Kids Jiu Jitsu Programs
