Computer Science Summer Camps at UAB

UAB Computer Science runs week-long summer camps for rising 6th-12th graders at University Hall on 10th Avenue South in Birmingham. Open to community kids, not limited to UAB-affiliated families.

Programs for Tweens and Teens

Two grade bands with topic-specific tracks. Programs include:
- Introduction to Scratch (rising 6-8, $450)
- Introduction to Python with micro:bit (rising 6-8, $500, device to keep)
- Introduction to Python and Artificial Intelligence (rising 9-12, $450)
- Introduction to Raspberry Pi programming and robotics (rising 9-12, $600, device to keep)

What's Included

  • Camp instruction at UAB University Hall
  • Lunch included
  • Hardware kept by camper for select tracks (micro:bit, Raspberry Pi)
  • Two one-week sessions in June (6/1-6/5 and 6/8-6/12)
  • 8:30am-3:30pm daily schedule

Experience

Best fit for committed STEM tweens and teens wanting a focused tech week on a research university campus. Take-home hardware (Pi, micro:bit) extends learning past the camp week.
