Norfolk's Regional Professional Theater
Virginia Stage Company is a professional regional theater on East Tazewell Street with a separate education arm running camps and classes for kids ages 7-18. Camps are taught by company artists and culminate in showcase performances on the company's downtown stages.
Camps and Classes for Ages 7-18
Seasonal camps grouped by grade level, each ending in a live performance. Programs include:
- The Narrator War (Grades 1-5, 1 week)
- Voices in the Dark - sound and foley-based storytelling (Grades 1-5, 1 week)
- Apostrophe S - language and comedic timing (Grades 6-8, 2 weeks, two sessions)
- Ensemble in Action / Will and Whimsy - Shakespeare interpretation (Grades 9-12, 2 weeks)
- Student matinees of mainstage productions

Experience
Strong choice for kids ready for a professional rehearsal pace. The classical-text camps for older students give exposure to material rarely tackled before college and are a feeder for serious teen actors.
