Acting Classes for Kids Through Adults at the Acadiana Center for the Arts
Acting Up (in Acadiana) is a long-running acting class program operating at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Run by Amy Waguespack, it organizes weekly age-banded classes plus the 15-day Summer Youth Shakespeare Ensemble each July.
Programs for Kids
Three age-banded weekly tracks plus a flagship summer intensive. Programs include:
- Intro to Acting Fundamentals (ages 7-10, Tuesdays 4:30-5:30pm)
- Acting Fundamentals and Fun (ages 11-HS, Mondays 4:30-6pm)
- The Serious Actor (HS-Adult, Tuesdays 6-7:30pm)
- Summer Youth Shakespeare Ensemble (SYSE, ages 10-18, 15-day intensive with music, acting, dance, design)

Experience
Strong fit for kids who want weekly acting classes without the cost of a full conservatory and who appreciate the age-banded format. The SYSE Shakespeare camp is the highlight - a real two-week intensive culminating in a staged Shakespeare production.
