Adventure Playground
About
National Geographic Top-Ten Playground With Real Tools
Adventure Playground at Berkeley Marina lets kids hammer, saw, and paint their own forts using real tools and recycled materials. National Geographic named it a Top 10 playground - one of the most unique kid spots in California.
What Kids Can Do
Kids check out hammers, saws, paint, and recycled wood from the tool library, then build their own structures or modify existing kid-built forts, boats, and towers. The zip line runs across the central play area. Plenty of forts, scrap-built ships, and climbing structures stay year-round. Parents must accompany kids under 18 and sign a liability waiver at the entrance [marked: open Saturdays-Sundays only 11am-5pm to walk-in families - weekdays closed except for prebooked groups].
What's Included
Free admission. Tool library, paint, recycled materials all included free. Liability waiver required at entrance.
Experience
Plan 2-4 hours. Almost entirely outdoor - bring sun protection, water, and old clothes (paint and sawdust everywhere). Kids should wear closed-toe shoes. Free parking at Berkeley Marina lots. Adjacent Shorebird Park Nature Center for marine ecology displays.
