ArtStart
About
ArtStart is a long-running St. Paul community arts nonprofit on St. Clair Avenue, with kids and teen programs that span seasonal camps, school residencies, and the ArtScraps reuse center.
Programs
- Summer, Winter, Spring, Fall Arts Camps - week-long themed sessions across seasons
- Art & Creative Writing Camp - cross-discipline cohort blending visual and written arts
- Camp Create for Teens - older-student studio intensives
- Studio A Adult & Youth Classes - shared-space cohorts in mixed age bands
- Birthday parties, school residencies, and the ArtScraps creative reuse center
What's Included
Class fees cover materials and instruction. The ArtScraps storefront sells donated art and craft supplies at low cost, which families can stock up at after camp pickup.
Experience
The St. Clair Avenue location anchors the Macalester-Groveland neighborhood, walkable from cafes and shops. The reuse-and-residency model is the differentiator - ArtStart partners with St. Paul schools and runs a community supply store, so the program feels civic rather than just commercial.
