Sacramento's Travel Hockey Club
Capital Thunder Youth Hockey (CTYH) is the competitive travel ice hockey club serving the greater Sacramento region, established in 1984 and headquartered at Skatetown Ice Arena in Roseville. The club fields teams at every USA Hockey age tier from Mites through high school varsity, with practices and home games at Skatetown's twin sheets.
Programs For Kids
Tiered programming for committed competitive players. Programs include:
- Fall/Winter Program (tryout-based, full season)
- Spring Program (no tryouts required)
- Summer Skills and Drills
- 8U Mites
- 10U Squirt
- 12U PeeWee
- 14U Bantam
- High School/Varsity teams
What's Included
- All home practices and games at Skatetown twin-sheet facility
- 2-3 practices per week during the competitive season
- USA Hockey-certified coaching
- Weekend travel and tournament schedule throughout California and beyond
- Non-profit volunteer board structure
Experience
Capital Thunder is the obvious next step for any Sacramento-area kid who outgrows Skatetown's in-house league or wants tournament-level competition. Travel scope reaches the Bay Area regularly with occasional national tournaments. Fall/Winter tryouts every August.
