Chelsea Piers Sky Rink
About
NYC's Twin-Rink Year-Round Ice Complex on the Hudson
Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers has been New York City's most popular year-round indoor ice skating rink since opening in 1969. The twin-rink facility on Pier 61 operates seven days a week, hosting general skating, figure skating, ice hockey, league play, and instructional programs across the calendar.
Programs for Kids
The hockey program at Chelsea Piers ladders skaters from first lessons through travel-team play. Programs include:
- Developmental youth hockey classes for new and progressing players
- Junior, full-day, and competitive ice hockey summer camps (ages 3 and up)
- School-break ice hockey camps
- Private youth training and semester-based skating lessons
- Youth leagues and mites leagues for first game-play experience
- Spring hockey programs for ages 6-18
- NYC Cyclones Tier II/AA travel hockey (8U through 18U)
- Figure skating progression classes
- Public skate sessions
What's Included
- Two NHL-size indoor ice sheets
- Locker rooms and warm spectator viewing
- Coaching staff with playing and instructional experience
- Skate-rental availability

- Pier 61 Hudson River location accessible from Manhattan, NJ, and the boroughs
Experience
The twin-rink layout keeps ice availability high so families can layer lessons, practice, and games without leaving the building. New skaters work on falling safely, balance, and forward strokes before moving into edges, stops, and hockey-specific stride. The Cyclones pathway means competitive players have a clear route from learn-to-play to AA travel.
