CityLax
About
CityLax
Nonprofit founded in 2005 to break down barriers to lacrosse for NYC public-school students. Operates from 65 West 89th Street on the Upper West Side. Over its first two decades CityLax has reached more than 20,000 student-athletes across 70+ NYC public schools, with annual equipment grants exceeding $65,000 directly to PSAL (Public Schools Athletic League) teams.
Kids Lacrosse Programs
Five-pillar program model serves middle-school and high-school players:
- In-school gym classes at NYC public middle schools introduce lacrosse during PE
- Winter clinics - 30+ free skill sessions each year across all five boroughs
- Summer camps for elementary and middle-school newcomers
- Open-play Sundays at Pier 40 Hudson River Park, all skill levels welcome
- Equipment grants distribute full sticks/pads/helmets to PSAL teams that can't afford them
What Parents Should Know
- 100% free programming - no fees, no equipment requirements
- Focuses on PSAL public-school pipeline, not private-club travel circuit
- All five boroughs covered through partner middle and high schools
- Founded by Richard Lisk, Bronx HS of Science alum and former PSAL coach
