Downtown Cultural Center Teaching Kitchen
The El Paso Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) runs a regular calendar of family-friendly Mexican cuisine cooking classes out of its downtown Teaching Kitchen. Classes are led by James Beard Semi-Finalist chefs and pitched specifically at kids ages 6+.
Kids Programs
Monthly themed kid cooking classes plus family workshops. Programs include:
- Kids: Entomatadas - Sabor Tradicional (with Chef Mateo Herrera, ages 6+)
- Kids: CΓ³ctel de CamarΓ³n (with Chef Enrique Lozano, ages 6+)
- Rotating Mexican cuisine kid sessions ($5 per person)
- Family workshops with multiple ages
What's Included
- All ingredients (salsa de tomate, tortillas, shrimp, etc.)
- Teaching Kitchen workspace
- Recipes to take home
- Instruction from James Beard recognized chefs
- Required: non-slip closed-toe shoes and apron
Experience
Kids learn authentic Mexican cooking - folding tortillas, building salsas, preparing shrimp cocktail - guided by El Paso's top recognized chefs. $5 per person fee makes this the most accessible kid cooking class in the city. Reservations via the MACC class calendar.
