Grand Prairie's restored 1950 theater hosts kids' theater camp at Uptown
The Grand Prairie Arts Council (GPAC) runs Children's Arts Programming out of the historic Uptown Theater on Main Street. The 1950 movie palace was restored and reopened in 2008, and now anchors live productions, concerts, and youth education.
Programs for Kids
Summer In The Arts and year-round offerings:
- Theater Camp (July, Mon-Fri 9am-4pm, ends with public performance at Uptown)
- Art Explosion Camp (ages 7-15)
- Summer In The Arts sessions for kids who completed 1st grade through 15
- GPAC theater season productions cast with community members

Experience
Kids rehearse and perform in a restored historic venue rather than a borrowed school auditorium. GPAC's summer programming serves as the primary children's theater outlet in Grand Prairie, with productions visible to families downtown.
