Downtown Arlington's award-winning community theater, founded 1973
Theatre Arlington has run productions and a year-round theater school out of its 305 W Main Street venue for more than 48 years. The Adult and Children's Theatre School (A.C.T.S.) is the youth education arm, teaching storytelling, acting, singing, and movement.
Programs for Kids and Teens
Camps and classes for ages 3-16+:
- 1-3 week summer camps (Disney Descendants Jr, Madagascar Kids, Matilda Jr, Newsies Jr, Play and Pretend)
- A.C.T.S. progressive curriculum in storytelling, acting, singing, movement
- Standing Room Only youth performing troupe
- Private lessons in voice, acting, audition prep, piano, dance
- Outreach programs serving at-risk youth
What's Included
- Final performance at end of each camp/class session
- Costumes and production support for full musicals
- Instruction from working theater professionals
Experience
The theater pulls 25,000+ annual patrons across its mainstage productions, so kids in the school see and feel a working theater operation around them. Camps build to fully-staged shows rather than recital-style recaps.
