Teen Culinary Summer Camp at Kapiolani CC
Kapiolani Community College's Office of Continuing Education and Training runs a teen Culinary Summer Camp in the Ohia Building on the Diamond Head campus. Chef Alan Tsuchiyama instructs fundamental cooking techniques using sustainable Hawaiian ingredients.
Teen Programs
Week-long summer camp tracks plus shorter kid courses. Programs include:
- Culinary Summer Camp for Teens (ages 13-18, week-long sessions)
- Younger kid culinary courses (ages 7-9, 10-12 - check OCET catalog)
- Field trip to a lo'i (taro patch)
- Modern-day lū'au dishes, flavors of Italy, Aloha Friday Grindz
- Sustainable ingredient focus

Experience
Teens get real culinary-school technique from a credentialed chef instructor in a community college teaching kitchen. Field trip to a taro patch (lo'i) ties technique to Hawaiian agricultural tradition. Multiple two-week session options in June and July.
