1,400-Acre Wilderness Park at Anchorage's Western Edge
Kincaid Park preserves 1,400 acres of coastal Sitka spruce forest and bluff terrain on the western edge of Anchorage. The Kincaid Outdoor Center hub includes 60 km of interwoven trails (nearly 20 km lighted), Olympic-caliber Nordic ski venues, and the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail terminus.
What Kids Can Do
In summer, 60 km of multi-use trails support biking, hiking, and the Coastal Trail's 11-mile route to downtown Anchorage. In winter, world-class Nordic skiing on lighted trails. Wildlife viewing includes moose (very common), occasionally bears and lynx. Disc golf course in the south section. Soccer fields, archery range, and biathlon course on-site. Junior Naturalist programs through Anchorage Parks [marked: moose dangerous especially with calves spring-summer - give 50+ feet space].
What's Included
Free day-use of all trails, fields, and disc golf. Outdoor Center restrooms and common areas free. Equipment rentals through private operators on-site.

Plan 2-5 hours. Almost entirely outdoor - bring layers (Anchorage weather flips fast), water, bear-aware practices. Stroller-friendly Coastal Trail section. About 5 miles west of downtown Anchorage. Free on-site parking.
