Knoxville Children's Theatre
About
Plays for Children, by Children
Knoxville Children's Theatre is an education-focused non-profit that produces year-round live theatre cast entirely with young actors ages 4-18, paired with a Creative Dramatics Academy that trains kids in acting and technical design.
Creative Dramatics Academy Terms
Five seasonal terms keep students working year round, each one wrapping with a showcase performance for family and friends. Programs include:
- Spring Term classes
- Summer Camps (one-week intensives)
- Fall Term classes
- Late Fall Term classes
- Winter Term classes
What's Included
- Instruction in acting plus technical design for live productions
- End-of-term showcase performance
- Limited class sizes (admission by 50% deposit)
- Auditioned opportunities to join the mainstage company
Experience
Kids work through the same craft a professional company uses - script analysis, blocking, tech rehearsals - and then put it in front of a paying audience. Repeat enrollment across terms turns the academy into a year-round home for serious young performers.
