Lillstreet Art Center
About
Ravenswood's Beloved Community Art Center With a Kids' Wing
Lillstreet Art Center has anchored Chicago's Ravenswood arts corridor for decades in a converted industrial building at 4401 N Ravenswood. Its Kidstreet department is the youth-focused arm, serving ages 3 and up.
Classes and Camps
Kidstreet runs year-round classes plus a robust summer camp schedule. Options include:
- Classes for ages 3 and up across multiple mediums
- Week-long summer camps starting in early June
- Ceramics-themed birthday parties (Unicorns, Dinosaurs, Superheroes) in the pottery studios
- Workshops and weekend offerings throughout the school year
What's Included
- Real working artist studios - ceramics, painting, printmaking, jewelry, textiles
- Instruction from practicing Chicago artists who also teach adults on-site
- Process-over-product philosophy: emphasis on exploration, not perfect outcomes
- Supportive, low-pressure environment where kids collaborate and experiment
Experience
One of the most genuine art-education experiences in Chicago - Kidstreet feels like a real artists' co-op that also welcomes kids, rather than a glossy kids-studio chain. Ideal for kids who want to make actual art with actual materials (clay, pigment, fiber), not color-between-the-lines craft kits.
