LUX Center for the Arts
About
LUX Center for the Arts is Lincoln's North 48th Street community art center, with kids classes spanning grade-school sketchbook clubs through teen wheel-throwing.
Programs
- LUX Sketchbook Club - rotating drawing prompts and skill-building
- Summer Art Camp (grades K-10) - week-long themed day camps
- Wheel Throwing - youth pottery sessions on electric wheels
- Comics & Illustrating - sequential art and character design classes
- Needle Felt a Woodland Creature - and other one-off fiber-arts workshops
What's Included
Materials, kiln firing for ceramics, and instructor time are bundled into class fees. The center maintains a working ceramic studio with electric wheels and kilns plus dedicated 2D and printmaking spaces.
Experience
LUX runs Tuesday-Saturday with First Friday extended to 8pm for community art-walk events. Beyond classes, families can drop into the gallery exhibitions for free during open hours, making the building feel like a hangout rather than a one-purpose studio.
