Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre
About
Northern Virginia Youth Theatre Since 1980
Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre (MVCCT) has been producing Northern Virginia youth productions and educational programs since 1980. The program runs three to four full productions a year with cast ages 3 through 18 plus a four-week teen intensive for advanced students.
Camps, Classes, and Productions
Programming spans drop-in camps, semester classes, and audition-track productions. Programs include:
- Summer camp sessions with themed weeks (K-pop, Disney, musicals, spy games)
- Musical theatre productions and straight plays
- Teen Summer Intensive (4-week production camp for middle and high school students)
- Assistant Teaching Artist program for older students
- Backstage and technical theatre involvement opportunities
What's Included
- Stage time across 3-4 mounted productions per year
- Morning musical theatre and afternoon acting skills in all-day camps
- Assistant Teaching Artist pathway for older students
- Tech theatre opportunities alongside performance
Experience
Forty-five years of continuous youth programming makes MVCCT one of Northern Virginia's longest-running youth theatres. The Assistant Teaching Artist pathway is rare for community programs - older students get teaching mentorship rather than just stage time.
