Century-Old Alexandria Community Theatre Education Program
The Little Theatre of Alexandria (LTA) has been producing community theatre in Old Town Alexandria since 1923. Alongside its mainstage season, LTA runs a comprehensive youth education program with classes, workshops, and scholarship awards.
Youth Education Programs
Programming spans preschool through high school with multiple instructors. Programs include:
- Preschool classes and workshops
- Youth classes year-round
- High school scholarship awards ($1,000 each for up to two annually)
- Student Ambassador Program for high schoolers with prior LTA experience
- Summer 2026 youth registration opening
- Specialized instruction in acting, music, improv, puppetry, technical theatre
What's Included
- $15 registration fee waived for LTA members
- Partial scholarships through the Council of The Little Theatre
- Stage access at LTA's Wolfe Street venue in Old Town
- Instruction from working artists across multiple disciplines
Experience
The 100+ year institutional history gives LTA Alexandria-anchor status. Phone assistance available Monday-Friday 1-5 PM; in-person visits by appointment with Business Manager Kim Smith-Salmon. Best fit for kids whose families want serious community-theatre training in an established venue.
