Oakland School for the Arts Summer Arts Academy
About
Two-week summer arts intensive at Oakland's Fox Theater campus
Oakland School for the Arts runs its Summer Arts Academy out of the historic Fox Theater building in Uptown. The program opens its 16+ studios to the broader Oakland community each summer, not just OSA-enrolled students.
Performing Arts Tracks
Two-week intensives for ages 9-16 include:
- Theater Acting
- Musical Theatre
- Vocal Music & Songwriting
- Instrumental Music
- Dance
- Filmmaking and Screenwriting
Students pick one focus track and spend the full two weeks deep in that discipline.
What's Included
- Daily instruction in a dedicated arts facility
- Showcase or final performance at end of session
- Access to OSA's specialized studios (recording, dance, theater)
Experience
Faculty include OSA's own teaching artists plus visiting professionals. The Fox Theater venue gives kids a genuine performance space rather than a rented classroom, and the community-open enrollment means new families can sample OSA-level training without committing to the full school year.
