Oakland Theater Project
About
Bay Area company training young actors in classical and contemporary technique
Oakland Theater Project is a Berkeley-rooted professional theater company that brings its rehearsal-room rigor to youth training. Classes are led by company members and working actors who teach the same techniques used in mainstage productions.
Youth Acting Courses
Two leveled tracks for middle and high school students:
- Beginning Acting (grades 6-9)
- Intermediate Acting (grades 8-11)
Students work through Meisner, Stanislavsky, and Uta Hagen exercises, build original monologues and scenes, and finish each session with a showcase audition for company members.
What's Included
- Scene and monologue work guided by professional actors
- Voice, movement, and on-camera basics
- Final showcase audition with company feedback
Experience
The program is designed for teens who want serious acting training without competition-track pressure. Sliding-scale pay-what-you-can pricing keeps it accessible to families across the East Bay.
