Okinawa Karate by Karate Bros
About
Traditional Okinawan-style karate dojo
KarateBros runs a dedicated Shotokan-style dojo in southeast Denver. The focus is classical karate training - kihon (basics), kata (forms), and kumite (sparring) - rather than a mixed-martial-arts crossover.
Age-grouped kids programs
Kids classes are tightly tracked by age and rank. Programs include:
- Pre-Karate (ages 4-6) - intro coordination and discipline
- Kids Karate (ages 7-13) - Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced groups
- Teen & Adult Karate (ages 14+)
- Summer karate camps
- Development camps and competitions
- Birthday parties at the dojo
What's Included
- Traditional Shotokan curriculum
- Belt-rank progression with formal testing
- Gi included in starter package (typically)
- Small age-grouped classes
- Optional tournament training for committed students
Experience
Classical dojo environment - bowing, discipline, formal etiquette. Kids here earn belts through real technical testing, not auto-promotion. A good fit for Denver families who want traditional karate rather than modern MMA-influenced schools.
