Pocahontas State Park is Virginia's largest state park - 8,000 acres of pine forest, hardwood ridges, three lakes, and over 90 miles of trails. Day-use families have access to a swimming pool, beach, playgrounds, fishing, paddling, and a Civilian Conservation Corps museum.

What Kids Can Do

Pocahontas Aquatic Center has the largest swimming pool in Virginia state parks - kids' shallow area plus 50-meter pool. Three lakes (Beaver, Swift Creek, Third Lake) offer fishing, kayaking, and paddleboard rentals. 90+ miles of trails range from family-friendly Old Mill Bicycle Trail (paved, 2 miles) to expert mountain bike loops. CCC Museum tells the story of 1930s park-building. Picnic shelters and playgrounds at multiple lots. Camping available [marked: Aquatic Center requires separate paid ticket plus park entry - reserve weekends in advance].
