About

Shaolin Arts Kung Fu & Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese martial arts school on Lake Pleasant Parkway in Peoria, operating since 1992 under Head Instructor Shi Bo Chris Workman, who has more than 30 years of experience teaching Shaolin kung fu and Chen-style tai chi. The school is one of the longest-running traditional Chinese martial arts academies in the Phoenix metro and the most established kung fu program in the West Valley. The curriculum emphasizes Five Animals Shaolin Kung Fu (tiger, crane, leopard, snake, dragon) - each animal style training a different set of physical and mental qualities, from the tiger's directness and power to the crane's balance and timing - alongside Chen-style tai chi for internal energy work, structure, and slow-motion practice that complements the explosive kung fu material. The Youth Kung Fu / Kids Martial Arts program builds children's confidence while teaching the core values of focus, discipline, persistence, cooperation, and respect, all woven into developmentally appropriate stance work, basic forms, conditioning games, and partner drills. A senior instructor team of seven (Marty Enloe, Trey Neeman, Fred Garcia, Kyle Turcott, Jim Geisbush, Josi Anderson, plus additional staff) supports the head instructor and means students at every level get experienced coaching. Families come from across North Peoria, Sun City, Vistancia, Surprise, Glendale, and the wider West Valley. Trial classes are available for prospective students considering authentic traditional Chinese martial arts.
