Southside Community Center
About
City of San Jose's South Valley Hub
Southside Community Center sits at 5585 Cottle Road in the South Valley district of San Jose, run by the City of San Jose Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department. The center serves the surrounding South San Jose neighborhoods with year-round youth sports programming, drop-in activities, classes, and seasonal camps - the Cottle Road facility is the operating office while many camps are held at adjacent Cahalan Park (Cahalan Avenue & Pearlwood Way, 95123).
Kids Lacrosse Programs at Cahalan Park
The center partners with Skyhawks Sports to run a co-ed Lacrosse Camp at Cahalan Park - a week of fundamentals across passing, catching, ground balls, defense, and shooting, taught in a non-competitive structured format suited to beginners and early-experience players. The most recent published session runs July 20-24, 2026 from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM for ages 7-12. Equipment is provided by Skyhawks at the venue, so a player can register without owning a stick yet.

Experience
Southside Community Center is a Parks Rec community hub in San Jose's South Valley, and the surrounding neighborhood has long used the center as the spring/summer activity anchor for Almaden/Blossom Hill families. Skyhawks Sports is a national multi-sport camp operator with decades of youth-clinic experience - their lacrosse curriculum is intentionally low-barrier for kids who have never picked up a stick. The Cahalan Park venue is a flat outdoor neighborhood park with open turf space appropriate for clinic-style drills with younger players.
